Terrible experience! Charged over $700 to diagnose. Didn’t fix anything. What a bad way to do business!
Hello Debra. I do apologize. After reviewing your issues with the Tiguan, we found these issues that we addressed with you and James after gaining your permission: 1. Vehicle was towed in not starting 1. Battery was completely discharged and would not allow proper cranking of the engine. We were given permission to replace it. 2. Low coolant indicated in bucket and system. Permission given to fill to level 3. Engine cranking and cylinder performance testing with PICO scope and pressure transducer. 4. Engine timing jumped causing engine valve damage 5. After reviewing all parameters of the engine and powertrain warranty, we called the manufacture directly to investigate any OE warranty available for you since the vehicle was low mileage. 6. We found that you were eligible for a full engine replacement under the VW extended plan. In fact, we arranged to have the vehicle towed to the local VW dealer after we discussed your vehicle issues with their service team. 7. I personally called the team at VW only to learn that you could not produce any oil service records in order for them to assist you in any warranty claim. 8. Because you could not produce any type of records and they could not assist you with them, you declined any repairs on the car because you would be responsible for all charges. 9. You removed vehicle from the dealer service lot via tow. Finally, we kept you and James updated with text, calls and all testing results while the vehicle was here. The testing charges were severely reduced and no time was billed for any consulting with the manufacturers and the local dealer teams. The battery and coolant was a little more than one third of bill while the rest was extreme testing. Everything we did was approved before hand. We gave you the best and most valid solution: a new engine installed at no charge from the manufacturer. All was needed were service records indicating that you kept up with service. Since the dealer had none (because they had never serviced the vehicle) and we didn't have any (since we never serviced the vehicle) that opportunity for a new engine extinguished itself. I know it's very upsetting not to have a vehicle operating and in need of major repairs at a high cost. But we did our best to put you in a favorable position for a great outcome. Any time you wish to discuss, my door is always open. Thank you for your comments. - Greg Buckley
