Fighting COVID Burnout? Get In The Car And Drive!

I'll be the first to admit that the COVID reality has been very tough on me as we've gone from fighting the spread, reducing the curve to restrictions, masks in all public places, favorite places closing and restrictions that are curtailing our normal feeling of freedom. No matter what side of the story you fall on, there's no doubt that all of us are affected by the changes, the gap in services or products and most certainly, the isolation.  Of all the freedoms that we are accustomed to as Americans, these times have put a dent in them. But, there's one thing most of us can do. Get outside. Go for a walk. Get some sunshine. For me, I had to take a DRIVE. Literally get in the car and take a ten hour trip to the beautiful state of Maine. With my wife Patty and my co-pilot, we got to explore the wonders of "The Pine Tree State". Funny to me, but the fall foliage seems to take second seat to the wonderful coastlines as it's jets out further east than mo ... read more

Buckley's Supports Restaurant Workers With Caps, Corks & Cars

Caps, Corks & CarsTM is a strategic fundraising arm of Buckley’s AutoCare, a 53 year old family owned and operated automotive repair center located in Newport, Delaware. Our tradition of supporting our local communities runs deep with decades of helping those in need, when they need it most. Our family has been involved from local to national fundraising efforts and we continue to seek ways where we can be a conduit for goodwill. With Caps, Corks & CarsTM, our goal is to support the mission of the Delaware Restaurant Association’s EAT initiative, where funds raised go directly to the hospitality workers throughout the state. Understanding that during the current Covid-19 crisis, many of these workers have gone without pay due to the mandatory stay-at-home orders by our Governor. We realize that people staying home means no one is eating, drinking or socializing at local establishments such as taverns, bars, restaur ... read more

Swapping An Engine On A Mini Cooper

When you need to swap out engines on a Mini Cooper, you might be surprised to learn that the whole front of the car needs to be removed. The front clip as it's called, is removed to gain favorable access to the engine and all accessories such as the air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, alternator and other pulleys. This gives you a clear view of the entire engine bay.  Once the front clip is off, we remove the belts, hoses, and all fuel lines, a/c lines and air box. The engine will be pulled out straight away from the body. Once we have it out and rested on our movable bench, we begin to dissect it. That means, we're taking off all of the parts that get swapped over to the new (used in this case) one. MINI Parts like spark plug wires, manifolds, pumps, alternators and other pieces necessary to get the engine back in running condition.  After its finally set up, it's re-installed just about the ... read more
